Abstract
I suspect my comment is going to be impressionistic, really. I got the impression in comparing the institute of last year with this year, that to a certain extent, that business of “being lost in the clouds of unknowing” was partly a result of people going back over old ground, to see where we were at. The image that occurred to me was that of a runner or jumper who wants to make a great leap forward. Obviously, when Tony introduced what he wanted out of this institute, it was a great leap forward, if we could manage it. But it seemed to me that the leap was not possible until one would go back and measure the ground over again and look at where we are.
