Abstract
It is the duty of individuals travelling abroad to be aware of the measures they should take to protect themselves against the diseases prevalent in the countries to be visited or passed through. Their attention should be drawn to government pamphlets such as those provided by the US Department of Health, Education and Welfare or Notice to Travellers, obtainable from Health Departments in the UK. These give information on the distribution of most tropical and subtropical diseases and guidance on personal protection and on immunisation against them.
