Abstract

In North America approximately 15% of marriages are barren (MacLeod, 1971, Simmons, 1956) and male factor infertility accounts for half of these cases (Paulsen, 1974; Reame and Hafez, 1975). The investigative protocol of infertile males includes semen analysis, testicular biopsy and endocrinologic evaluation. From these determinations a broad clinical pathologic classification has evolved, made up of three groups: the pre-testicular, testicular and post-testicular causes (Wong et al., 1973a).
