Heart Block (Atrioventricular Block)

  • Chapter
Interpreting the Electrocardiogram

Abstract

This was described in Part 10. The prolonged PR interval in first degree heart block is usually caused by a delay in conduction of the atrial impulse through the atrioventricular (AV) node. In the more advanced degrees of heart block the disease may be at the AV node or lower down the conducting system in the His bundle or the bundle branches.
