Abstract
This study focuses on privatization in Canada conducted by both the federal and provincial governments from 1983 to May 1988. Privatization has largely taken the form of selling federal and provincial Crown corporations to private investors, although, as noted below, the term has been used to describe a variety of other things.
I am indebted to Sandy Carter for efficient word processing services under pressure, and to several persons who commented on an earlier version of this paper -- including Rod Dobell, Walter Block, Richard Schultz and the anonymous referees. See also Stanbury (1988).
