Redness of the eye with variable discomfort or pain is one of the commonest presentations of ocular problems. The importance of making the correct diagnosis at the first examination cannot be overemphasized. Incorrect diagnosis may result in potentially dangerous treatment, which can lead to permanent loss of sight.
