Abstract
Prostaglandins (PGs) have been demonstrated to play a role in contractions of intestinal smooth muscle1. It has been shown by several authors that non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) inhibit PG-synthetases in various tissues2. NSAID were thus used in the guinea pig isolated ileum for further exploration of the functional significance of PGs in this model3,4.
