Abstract
In this review of designer training, the author considers both the possibilities offered by CADCAM technology and also the restrictions imposed upon its use by the existing industry organization. The new technology permits change and CAD enables many changes to be brought into the design process. However when considering training the market place is a vastly different one from education with a large number of in-service engineers to be considered. In re-training for CADCAM not only do we have to consider the change in design procedures, the change, and rate of change that existing industry can accommodate, but also a different delivery technique is required.
