Abstract
The range of naturally occurring white minerals and synthetic white inorganic pigments that are relatively colourless and transparent in organic binder films are referred to as extenders or extender pigments. These pigments are also referred to as mineral earths, relating to their origin, or as inert pigments, because of their optically inert behaviour in surface coatings.
