Abstract
During the last two decades, the use of biochemical and physiological methods in fish toxicology has expanded dramatically. This review provides some background on the use of a physiological approach to detect early and sublethal responses of fish to toxic substances. We have also described results of field and laboratory studies, and have discussed the advantages and problems associated with various techniques based on our experiments.
