Abstract
A survey of the literature has revealed that almost nothing is known in wild species of the effects of temperature on mammalian pregnancy once conception has taken place. In wild mammals this period of the reproductive cycle appears relatively unaffected by temperature effects, as homeothermy renders females independent of this environmental variable. In domestic mammals, other than sheep, the same would apparently apply, so that this particular species may be a special individual case.
