Abstract
The various types of multiple bond are most conveniently grouped together with the triple bonds, not only because they occur in much the same frequency ranges but also because there is often some degree of overlap between the two. Thus in isothiocyanates RNCS there is some degree of resonance between the two canonical forms R-N≡C-S and R-N=C=S and there has been a good deal of argument as to which of the two predominate.
