Abstract
‘For the coastlands shall wait for me, the ships of Tharshish first bring your sons from far, their silver and gold with them.’ (Isaiah LX, 9). Though it is a matter of dispute, some biblical scholars hold that Tharshish refers to the mining district, then in Carthaginian hands, now known as Rio Tinto.
