Abstract

This book reports the findings of an international survey on the problems of the elderly, carried out by the Sandoz Institute in consultation with the United Nations Centre for Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs. It is offered both as a contribution to the World Assembly on Aging (Vienna, 26 July to 6 August 1982) and as a text for study and discussion in government, academic, community, religious, philanthropic, trade-union, and corporate organizations. For the purpose of the survey, and to conform with official usage for the Assembly, the elderly were defined as persons aged 60 and over.
