Abstract
Diabetes and lipid metabolism has been the subject of a number of recent reviews1-3. It has been suggested4 that abnormalities in lipoprotein metabolism can be understood by examining four sites of regulation of plasma lipoprotein transport:
-
(1)
production of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins,
-
(2)
lipoprotein lipase mediated triglyceride removal,
-
(3)
remnant catabolism,
-
(4)
extra-hepatic cholesterol rich lipoprotein catabolism.
