Prediction of the heat transfer in circulating fluidized beds at elevated temperatures

Heat transfer in CFBs typically takes place at elevated suspension temperature. For instance, the temperature of the gas/solid flow in CFB boilers amounts to 850 °C. With this temperature the heat flux transferred might be influenced by the radiative heat transfer mechanism . Measurements of the gas/solid flow at elevated temperatures are not easy to carry out in laboratory-scale CFB units because of the handling problems they create. On the other hand, the instrumentation for the heat transfer experiments in industrial CFBs frequently cannot be placed at the local positions where they are necessary for correct measurements.
