Abstract

In this paper we investigate the influence of the temperature field on the vortex street behind a heated cylinder and present the results of remote acoustic sensing of the wake. It is demonstrated experimentally that the characteristics of the scattered sound can be used to determine the parameters of the vortex street, including the spatial period and repetition rate of vortices, the circulation of velocity, and the heat transferred by vortices.
