Abstract
Tectonogeochemistry is a newly emerging cross disciplinary study that is still to be perfected. It deals with the behaviors and results of material components in tectonic processes (Chen et al., 1983). As far as saline lake mineral deposits are concerned, it is mainly concerned with the study of the controls of tectonics over geochemical fields of saline lake districts. Conversely, the geochemical processes within saline lakes may be studied as the effects of tectonic effects. The unusual tectonic conditions of the Qinghai—Tibet Plateau gave rise to various types of tectonic basins, created space for water and salt accumulation, controlled sedimentation, influenced the climate to some extent and provided the fundamental conditions for the formation of the saline lakes.
