Abstract
The effect of β-cyclodextrin (βCD) and 2-hydroxipropyl β-cyclodextrin (HPβCD) on physical properties and dissolution rate of Carbamazepine (CBZ) tablet samples in comparison with conventional formulation (without CDs) and commercial tablet (Tegretol®) was studied. Weight variation, crushing force and disintegration time were acceptable for all samples. The friability values of examined CBZ tablets were higher than commercially CBZ tablet. Both CDs (βCD and HPβCD) were showed some increasement in dissolution rate of CBZ from tablets, regarding conventional tablet formulation, but not regarding Tegretol®.
