Abstract

The communities of Juniperus phoenicea and Euphorbia dendroides species constitute a significant part of Thermo-Mediterranean ecosystems in Greece. Locally, Juniperus phoenicea enters into the Meso-Mediterranean level. In the littoral and sublittoral zone of Nafpaktos, Itea, Antikira in the North Korinthiakos Gulf, they present a significant development which is particularly interesting from both an ecological and syntaxonomic point of view. Their syntaxonomic position, until now, appears to vary according to different authors (Braun-Blanquet, Barbero & Quezel and Rivas-Martinez).
