Abstract
The continuously increasing speed and sequence in the development of new products in the wide field of microelectronics demands an extraordinary growth of the related engineering teams world wide in development and production. One of the most challenging tasks of a company is the recruiting and the training of new employees on the job which is a costly and time consuming task. The optimal employee with a high grade of special knowledge needed for a specific job cannot be expected from the university. But it is the task of the universities to offer general engineering knowledge, semiconductor basics, and soft skills to the students in order to give them the possibility to form their own personality. The specific requirements of Siemens semiconductor development division towards a potential candidate are shown in figure 1.
