Abstract
The rheology of liquids has both academic and technological significance, and rheometry is used in industry as a quality control tool for inspection of incoming materials and to enable optimization of processing conditions where the initial viscosity of the liquid media is important. Rheological problems fall into two groups. (1) measurements on stable fluids, usually carried out as a function of shear stress or frequency, and (2) observations on chemically unstable or reacting systems at a single shear rate or frequency.
