Abstract
At this year’s Summer Institute, someone asked why we consider the phenomenon of neutrino oscillation, yet never consider the possibility of oscillations between the electron, muon, and tau leptons themselves. To answer this question, we must reexamine under what conditions the concept of particle oscillation is meaningful. It is helpful to begin by considering the analogous problem of the double well potential.
