Abstract

In this paper I shall report some results of a citation analysis of the veterinary literature carried out at the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Wellcome Library, and outline some directions in which further work could go. The RCVS Wellcome Library is the major British information service serving the practising veterinarian. All of the 18,000 members of the Royal College in the UK and abroad may use our services, and we also serve veterinary nurses, and other para-veterinary professionals. Increasingly we are also becoming the focus for enquiries on animal health matters from owners and the general public.
