Abstract
As the mammographic model was being developed, a number of image degrading factors became evident. These included: scattered radiation, beam hardening, glare and possible over or under exposure. These motivate the model-based image enhancement and restoration algorithms proposed in this chapter. The h int representation lies at the heart of our approach and enables us to simulate any projective x-ray examination.
