Abstract
When we attempt to establish a general theory of differential equations, we probably had better deal with systems of differential equations rather than single differential equations, since the latter are included in a class of the former and the theory can be developed clearly through full use of matrix calculus. In this chapter, we shall treat reduction problems of single linear differential equations to several canonical systems.
