The Creative Impulse and the Aesthetic Discourse of the Arts

Abstract

Artistic work, creativity is associated with the spontaneous movements of consciousness or with inspiration, which like a gift of the gods offers the artist, poet, composer an outline of an artistic objective. Thus it astounds when poets like Valéry or artists like Degas tell us that they know nothing of spontaneity or inspiration but believe merely and entirely in work, study, persevering effort.
