Abstract

Nonlinear vibrations of elastic-plastic structures have been investigated in several papers. Detailed information about this topic can be found in the corresponding monographs (see e.g. Volmir 1972; Lindberg and Florence 1983; Jones 1989). For solving this problem up to now two main approaches may be stated:

  1. (i)

In order to simplify the calculations the real structure is substituted by a mathematical model (Simitses 1989; Karagiozova and Jones 1996)

  2. (ii)

Some numerical techniques (maily FEM or finite difference methods) have been applied (see e.g. Morino et al., 1971)
