Abstract
Destructive procedures are now less frequently used in the treatment of pain than was previously the case. However, they still play an important role in some specific chronic non-cancer pain syndromes such as ischemic limb pain; the use of sympathetic nervous system blocks is considered in an accompanying presentation. The entire subject of neurolytic (1) and neuroablative (2) procedures has been recently reviewed.
