Abstract
The size of a population is defined by its abundance and spatial range. The two characteristics are included among the fundamental population characters that make it possible to assess the current and future fate of a population and its role in vegetation structure and dynamics. Population abundance determines the potentials of a species as regards to the use of the environmental resources, and establishes its relations with other species.
