The translations of Chaadaev’s ‘Philosophical Letters’ and ‘Apologia of a Madman’ are based on the complete edition of those original texts written in French by Chaadaev and first published by Raymond T. McNally in Forschungen zur osteuropäischen Geschichte, Band 11, Berlin, 1966, 24-129.
