Abstract
Before discussing concepts specifically concerned with graphics software and how graphics programs operate, it is necessary to consider some of the more general concepts involved in all computer programming. Thus some preliminary information is included on operating systems, languages and filing systems with a level of detail that will be helpful to graphics users.
