Abstract
These two low molecular weight basic proteins are found almost exclusively in the alpha-granules of platelets and represent two of the earliest examples of the group of proteins now known collectively as the small inducible gene (SIG) family of proteins 1. For a more detailed description of the early developments leading up to the development of these two assays the interested reader is referred to a recent review chapter2.
