Abstract
When a semiconductor is exposed to greater than band gap optical excitation, minority and majority carriers are produced which can be separated within the built-in field of a junction or barrier, thereby producing a photo-emf and/or generating a photocurrent in an external circuit. This is a sensitive device to detect light and an efficient means to convert light into electric power
