Description of the CSSc by a Certain Class of Elastic-Plastic Models

  • Chapter
Low Cycle Fatigue and Elasto-Plastic Behaviour of Materials—3

Abstract

The present paper is aimed at showing how the CSSc may be described by a certain class of elastic-plastic models. The models were identified based on results obtained from a single-phase α-brass and a medium-carbon ferritic-pearlitic steel. The tests were carried out on cylindrical specimens subjected to uniaxial tension-compression (R = -1). The range of loads applied covered a broad spectrum of lifetimes beginning from LCF, through HCF and up to the fatigue limit. The tests were done on an MTS-810 puiser controlled via an IBM PC AT. Identification of the models was carried out using a program package for approximation with the root-mean-square error adopted as a measure of model performance.
