Abstract
Today’s strong interest in catheter tip echography is based on the fact that apparently the therapeutic interventional methods are not yet optimal, or cannot be optimal without further knowledge of the obstruction and the arterial wall itself. With ultrasound catheter tip systems, cross-sectional images can become available. It is with this in mind that intravascular echography has been stimulated to overcome the apparent limitations in present new interventional techniques.
