Part of the book series: Developments in Cardiovascular Medicine ((DICM,volume 132))

Abstract

The emergence of the quality of life discussion in cardiology has prompted the inclusion of psychosocial endpoints also into cardiovascular surgery [1]. While outcomes such as return to work [2], mental function [3], psychopathology [4] and psychological adjustment [5], had already been considered in previous research, the explicit focus on the patients quality of life in terms of well-being and function is a more recent development.
