Abstract

Coronary artery bypass grafting for atherosclerotic heart disease is one of the most common procedures performed in North America; the number of cases doubling between 1979 and 1986 [1]. Over the years, it has been recognized that there are benefits in having comprehensive profiles and outcomes of patients undergoing bypass surgery hence the large number of clinical trials. These trials give a clear view of the performance, provide useful data on characteristics of patients and the long-term impact of treatment.
