A Universal Coordinate System for Hail Suppression Activities in Croatia

  • Srećko Bandalo

In hail suppression the facilities are: radar centers (RC), launching stations (LS) and the radar echo of clouds. These facilities are disposed in space and their relative position during action is shown on a planimetric map. Hail suppression action is based on this planimetric map and is directly affected by any possible inaccuracy. The planimetric map coordinate system is based on the polar coordinate system. This is impractical for data exchange and global analyses. For this reason a universal coordinate system has been devised for the whole area involved in hail suppression in Croatia.
