Abstract
The biggest ammunition and explosives production site for TNT in Europe was situated in Stadtallendorf during WW II. The same area is now occupied by the central urban areas of the city of Stadtallendorf. Extensive on-site investigations are under way since 1990 as part of a step-wise increased reconnaissance program which is organized and arranged by the Hessian district authority in Gießen (Regierungspräsidium). “Das Bougrund Institut Knierim und Partner”, environmental and engineering consultants, and “Dr. Born - Dr. Ermel GmbH”, engineering consultants, are in charge with the joint supervision of the whole on-site survey and the overall management of the project.
