Abstract

The possibility of generation of large-scale vortical structures in turbulent astrophysical jets is demonstrated. This effect is analogous to the α-effect in Magneto Hydro-Dynamics, ft is also shown that the joint action of the helical turbulent motions and axially-converging mean flow at the jet origin is able to produce the self-collimating jet-like structure.
