Abstract

CASCADE was designed in the early eighties. It covers all modelling levels from the abstract system functional specification down to the detailed electrical component network. Core CASCADE is the set of data types, operators and constructors common to several or all design levels, with unique syntax and semantics, which are the basic primitives for describing the structure and the behaviour of digital circuits. Six CASCADE language levels include the predefined hardware modules, carrier types and statements applicable to the associated design level. CASCADE allows for mixed level modelling.
