Tracer Dispersion in the Taylor-Couette Instability with Axial Flow

Part of the book series: Mathematics and Its Applications ((MAIA,volume 267))

Abstract

We present experimental results on the mass tracer dispersion in an organized cellular flow, with stationary and propagating cells, arising from the centrifugal Taylor-Couette (TC) hydrodynamic instability [1]. An axial flow is superimposed to the annular cells and a pulse of passive tracer particles is injected in the middle of the cylindrical TC column.
