Abstract

Systemic hypertension is a complicated syndrome resulting from a complicated and widely distributed pathophysiological mechanism involving the cardiovascular system. A wide variety of changes do take place in various parts or systems namely the blood volume, intravascular volume, peripheral resistance and cardiac output. Other systems may also be involved such as those associated with renin and aldosterone secretion.
