Abstract
This paper presents results of a hydraulic study undertaken in order to investigate the effects of regulation of lower Drina river whereby a cascade system of reservoirs is to be formed, on regime of flood flows. Two possible flood control schemes have been analysed by mathematical modeling, involving partial pre-emptying of reservoirs, and free or controlled discharge of excess water into floodplains. The results of calculation are given for the flood wave of return period 1000 years, illustrating the specific aspects of this kind of flood management.
