Abstract
Mathematical modelling plays an increasingly important role in connection with the management of floods. Whereas this type of modelling was earlier confined to traditional hydrodynamic simulations, the scope nowadays has been extended to incorporate full morphological simulations with dambreak and embankment breaching, water quality simulations and real-time forecasting including on-line operation.
