Abstract
We consider the nonlinear recursive tracking of a moving narrow-band source by sensors that make both Doppler and bearing measurements. We show how the conditional probability density function (cPDF) of the five target parameters, given the measurements made at one instant in time, can be represented using a two dimensional grid. The method incorporates a priori information about the limitations of the source, and propagates the cPDF forward to the next measurement time. The propagated cPDF is then updated to account for the new measurements. The grid is in the spatial variables, and the marginals of the cPDF with respect to the current source location are maintained, resulting in an easily interpreted 2D function. The method is suited to maneuver detection.
