Abstract

This chapter is largely descriptive of the basic magnetic fields and magnetic properties of materials which are vitally important for any understanding of magnetic particle inspection beyond the automatic following of a procedure. It is fully appreciated that the introduction of equations and vector mathematics deters many inspectors and operators and for this reason equations have been kept to a minimum and manipulation of vectors avoided.
