Abstract
The human-computer interface is a particularly important component of a spatial information system. If the user-model is based on GIS system specialists passing results of analysis to a decision maker then a very different kind of interface is necessary from the model where relatively inexperienced GIS users access the data as part of an integrated information strategy for answering complex problems.
