Abstract

Besides the crucial information of topography, imaging provides a dynamic view of haematoma morphology whose microscopic correlates are increasingly expected of the neuropathologist. The CT scanner has a particular and enduring use in the demonstration of clotted or sedimented blood (provided mineralization is not a consideration), but is being overtaken by MR, together with the extraordinary complexities which that modality has brought to the subject of intracranial haemorrhage.
